Thank you for your interest in my company. My name is Kristin McDermott. I am a Certified Professional Building Designer (CPBD), and a licensed Real Estate Broker, with over two decades of experience in residential and commercial design and development. I am grateful for the opportunity to share a bit about myself, and I hope to instill confidence that I can be of service.

I was raised in Houston, a city abundant in diverse architecture and culture. My parents worked in construction, real estate, appraisal, and small business ownership. My grandparents were stewards of the land, as farmers in Brenham, Texas, and Native American territory preservationists in the Midwest. My family began shaping my interests at an early age. In grade school I was already observing landscapes and architecture, taking note of the function they were intended to support.

In 1997 I moved to San Marcos, Texas where I studied Interior Design & Technology at Texas State University. I was inspired by river life and the magical landscape of the Texas Hill Country. It was during this time that I discovered my passion to maintain and create healthy environments through my work. My mission then officially began.

In 1999, I opened my first business, a coffee shop, and continued to establish small businesses throughout my life, including a restaurant, a general store, a home remodeling company, an art gallery, a real estate brokerage, a men’s retail shop, and Keen Development Group.

Each project has been an intentional part of my mission- to create environments demanding I learn about human nature, construction, and architectural design in effort to simplify and enhance an intended function. Each project required remodel or new construction, and for years I managed construction for my clients and worked under my contractors to closely learn the trades.

My approach to my services, whether utilized independently or turn-key, is truly holistic. Each layer of my expertise enhances the other. I strategically approach my projects with the individual characteristics and goals of my clients in mind, and I would be honored to have the opportunity to speak with you about your project needs.
